Terming attempts of Jammu Bar in vitiating the atmosphere and engineering social disharmony among communities as disgraceful, Javed Ahmed Rana, NC’s senior leader and legislator today appealed civil society organizations to play active role in maintaining communal harmony and peace.
Underlining the role played by media in horrific rape and murder case of 8-year old nomad child, the NC leader lauded local journalists of national media houses for their relentless efforts in exposing the attempts of Jammu Bar and sitting ministers to manufacture social disharmony in Jammu by giving twist to the dastardly act.
“Communal harmony would have been in peril if it were not for the brutally fair and impartial conduct of some professional journalists”, he said while observing that certain political outfits were desperate to manufacture emotive issues to divide the people in order to gain maximum advantage by cleverly shifting goal posts.
Highlighting the role of civil society in fighting reactionary forces, Rana urged civil society groups in Jammu to guard against the intrigues being perpetrated by vested interests, which, he said, are out to create discord among the people by unleashing falsehood and indulging in deceit.
Welcoming the Suo Moto cognizance taken by Apex Court against Jammu Bar’s brazen attempt to thwart access to justice delivery, Rana demanded action against all those who supported the accused of horrible crime under various pretexts.
Meanwhile, the NC legislator while calling for establishment of fast track court to dispense speedy justice in the horrific case also commended the swift and professional investigation conducted by Special Investigation Team of Jammu & Kashmir Police despite pressure from sitting ministers who attended protest marches in favour of rape accused under the banner of Hindu Ekta Manch.
