JK Govt ‘clips’ wings of Babus, no use of private hotels, business class for air travel

Inan attempt to avoid unwanted expenses on luxurious life style that takes huge toll on state exchequer, the state government on Wednesday issued new austerity adversaries restraining bureaucrats to hold meeting/conferences in private hotels and use of economy class over instead of business during air-journey within the country.

“Utmost economy shall be observed in organizing conferences/seminars/workshops. No exhibitions/fairs otherthan the promotion of tourism can be organized outside the state”, Govt circular no FD-VII-08(111)2004-25, dated 25/10/2017 read.
The circular ban use of private hotels for meeting and conference, for the purpose government building would be used. “The officer shall travel on by economy class within the country. In all cases of air travel, the lowest air fare ticket available for entitled class it to be purchased”, the circular added.

The circular further said that facility of video conferencing may be used effectively and travel for the purpose of attending meetings should be avoided to extent possible. “No fresh financial commitments will be made on items which are not provided for in the approved budget”, the circular added.
