Rich tributes were paid to the Father of the Indian Constitution Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib Dr.B.R.Ambedkar on his 62nd Mahaparinirvan divas at a function organised by All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations in association with Adhi Dharam Samaj J&K, Gujjar Bakarwal Conference, Safai Karamchari Union, NHM Association, OBC Mahasabha, Gujjar Bakarwal Islahi Committee, Dalit Janrakshak,Pensioners & Civil Society Union, PHE Daily Wager Union, Akhil Bhartiya Kashyap Mahasangh,Dalit Liberation Front,Dabgotra Charitable Trust,Majdoor Dastkar Tpt.Yard Union, Majdoor Dastkar Union, J&K Gujjar United Front, Indian National People Welfare Society,Galaxy College Jammu,Dr.Ambedkar Group of Schools, YAC Kargil,Nirman Mazdoor Union,Jammu, Social Movement of India, Navi Dogri Sanstha and many others.
A candle march was organised on this occasion which commenced from Maharishi Valmiki Maharaj Temple, Gandhi Nagar towards the statue of Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib at Ambedkar Chowk, Gandhi Nagar. The march was flagged off by Bharat Bhushan Dogra, Vice Chairman SC Advisory Board. Dogra paid rich tributes to Baba Sahib and stated that the status which he is enjoying today is only due to the rights enshrined in the constitution by Baba Sahib.
Speaker of the Assembly Kavinder Gupta and Cabinet Minister Abdul Ghani Kohli also joined the march at Ambedkar Chowk. They garlanded the statue of Baba Sahib and paid their tributes to him. Kavinder Gupta while paying tributes to Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib assured the gathering that the Ambedkar Chowk will be developed beautifully as Baba Sahib didn’t belong to any particular community but to the nation as a whole irrespective of Caste,Creed & Community. He remembered the contribution of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar in the drafting of Constitution which ensured social justice and equality for all and led to the socio-economic and political upliftment of the downtrodden communities.
Cabinet Minister Abdul Ghani Kohli told the gathering that the present poltical setup of the country became possible only due to the Constitution which ensured equal rights to all and ensured participation of those who were deprived of their genuine rights. As such the whole nation is indebted to Baba Sahib Ambedkar who was the Architect of this constitution. The slogans of “Baba Sahib Amar rahe” and “Jab Tak sooraj Chand rahega,Baba Tera naam rahega” were raised during the march. The statue of Baba Sahib was showered with garlands and flowers.
R.K.Kalsotra,State President of the Confederation while paying tributes to Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib Dr.B.R.Ambedkar said that the present scenario of the country in which there is participation of SC/ST/OBC’s and Minorities in the society has become possible only due to the Constitution which was drafted by the Architect of the Constitution Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.He told that Baba Sahib was a prolific student earning doctorates in Economics from both Columbia University & the London School of Economics and gained reputation as a scholar for his research in law, economics and political science.Recently he has been with the title of “Student of the World”.Baba Sahib ensured in the constitution the Right to Equality,Liberty,Fraternity,Right to freedom of Religion,Abolition of Untouchability & various other constitutional rights to SC/ST/OBC’s, Minorities and underprivileged classes which were deprived of all this prior to the independence. Baba Sahib was of the opinion that the nation cannot develop untill there is upliftment and development of Dalits and gave the slogan of “Dalit Vikas Desh ka Vikas”.Kalsotra added that Baba Sahib envisioned casteless and egalitarian society and hence he enshrined rights in the constitution for the welfare and upliftment of SC/ST/OBC’s, Minorities,Underprivilged & downtrodden.So,it is the moral duty of the beneficiaries as well as enlightened people of the Country to ensure more share to the deprived sections of the society.Kalsotra demanded that Rajghat like status should be given to Nirvan Bhumi at New Delhi and the Father of the Indian Constitution should be given the same respect as that given to the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi.Kalsotra also demanded that the Ambedkar Chowk in Gandhi Nagar should be developed on the pattern of Chandni Chowk in Delhi. He further informed the gathering that a large rally is being organized by All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations under the leadership of Dr.Udit Raj,National President on 26th of December 2017 at Ram Leela Ground,New Delhi to save the rights that are enshrined in the constitution.
