A Maharatna Company and India’s second largest oil marketer extended its Corporate Social Responsibility by offering financial support for construction of community toilets at Leh.
The officials of the corporation in association with Deputy Commissioner Leh identified Chubikatpa for the purpose. This place was in need of a community toilet as it was surrounded by a community hall with busy public area around but without toilets. Leh administration involved the communities of the area and decided to hand over the public toilets after construction to area community for its maintenance later on.
These toilets will come up at a total cost of Rs 10 Lakh and shall be constructed by Rural Development Department, funds for which shall be arranged by BPCL. A formal MoU between Deputy Commissioner cum CEO LAHDC Avny Lavasa and Territory Manager of BPCL Rajesh Sharma was signed in April 2018 to take this initiative forward.
Having released the first installment of MOU, Officials of the Corporation handed over a ceremonial instrument worth Rs 10 lakh to CEC LAHDC Dorjay Motup, in the presence of Executive Councillors Gyal P Wangyal and Tsering Sangdup on Monday.
