Mehbooba’s refusal to hold CBI enquiry into Rassana Case raises questions: NSF

Credibility of the state government to shuttle one police enquiry to other and finally to Crime Branch of same Police Department has raised apprehensions about the intention of Mahbooba led dispensation prompting the people of Jammu to demand CBI enquiry for administering  justice to the victim.

This was stated by Dr. Vikas Sharma, State President National Secular Forum(NSF) in a press conference today who questioned that how can asking for CBI enquiry into the gruesome rape and murder of innocent girl constitute an act of defending the real culprits behind the crime.

He pointed out that when one section of state Police  Department was reportedly found incompetent by the government to handle this case in the beginning, how the Home Department under the nose of Mahmooba Mufti can convince people of Jammu for fair investigation by the same police in the name of Crime Branch which once failed to do justifiable investigation in this case, he added.

He blamed the state government for creating hostile situation of hatred dividing people of different communities hitherto known for living in cordial and hormonous manner since decades. He said that due to mischievous handling the Kashmir crisis on the plank of blame game by the state government,  Kashmir valley has been thrust to devastating fire and now on the PDP/ BJP is playing a dangerous game on the issue of deceased innocent girl with the tacit intention to create atmosphere of communal clashes between two communities instead of fair probe by Central Bureau of Investigation free from the interference of state government and local politicians.

Supporting the cause of Rassana case, wherein a 8 years old girl’s  murder will remain a mystery for decades to come, Dr. Vikas demanded that under the given circumstances and allay confusion amongst the minds of lacks of peace loving people living in this part of the state, this case of controversial nature be handed over to CBI for delving deep into each and every aspect of the case without any prejudicial approach so that truth, being allegedly given cover up,  sees the light of the day and true justice is given to the family of victim giving stern punishment whosoever found involved in the heinous crime without any hitch or hindrance.

Reshikesh Rana also said that Govt should honour the public sentiment and order a CBI probe so as to identify the actual culprits, without fear or favour, and to accord them exemplary punishment. He said that people had expressed doubts over the credibility of present investigating agency, the Crime Branch, on the ground of inclusion of some officers of doubtful integrity in the enquiry committee. “Give death penalty to those who are the culprits, but harassment of innocents under the garb of enquiry was something that had sparked massive outrage not only in Kathua but other districts as well”, Rishikesh Rana said. Among those who were present in the press-conference included, Manmohan Singh, Pushpinder Singh, Iahtaq Naik and Darpan Singh.
