The authorities of University of Jammu seem reluctant to initiate actions into alleged CCTV purchase scam.
Patron, National Secular Forum (NSF) Dr Vikas Sharma today demanded independent probe into the scandalous purchase of CCTV cameras by the authorities for Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) and the main campus.
Addressing a press conference here today, Sharma alleged that Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma, who claims to be an ultra honest person, abets corruption in the varsity. “JU authorities purchased CCTV cameras from the firm other than approved one and that too of different specification for installation in DDE buildings and main campus”, he added.
He sought clarification from the JU authorities as to why no one checked the specification of the CCTVs as well as the executing agency before installation of the same in DDE buildings. “As per the approval conveyed by University, these Cameras were to be purchased from M/S Cadnica Electronic Corp which was not adhered to, and that these CCTV cameras were purchased from other unapproved firm with ill intention and ulterior motive for the unknown reasons, he said while quoting a news report”, he added.
Dr Sharma urged the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor of the University to immediately take cognizance of the irregularities being committed in the University of Jammu at the earliest otherwise Institution would be spoiled.
