In a Shocking incident, Army today killed two civilians in Rajouri District and while firing third Civilian also get critically injured as per reports. These two civilians who were killed were working as helpers in the army canteen and this firing took place in the morning.
This incident has brewed resentment amongst the public at large in the Rajouri district as they minced no words in condemning the brutal incident of homicide killing. Some protestors went to extent of saying that the Army who are guarding the borders coupled with Disciplined force but given such brutal incident has brought the army under scanners as how come Army fired upon the civilians and claimed the innocent lives of these helpers who are working in the Army canteen for the past decade. Visuals emerged on social media showing that the protestors staged a sit-in on the National Highway of Rajouri Poonch Highway in protest against the killing of their beloved ones.
Sensing the gravity of the situation and the abrupt anger of the public against the Army, Army officials also visited the spot of protests in order to pacify the protestors. The army divulged to the protestors that they will approach them at any point in time and Army will provide every sort of assistance to the bereaved family. Scores of protestors gathered outside the army gate and demanded adequate compensation for the victims’ families. Even protestors vehemently stated that the GOC army should come and meet us. Army official should teach their subordinates as were to shoot first of all, rather When Army has to fire and then first fire on the legs, not at vital parts of the body, protestors rued expressing grave resentment against the Army for claiming innocent lives. Visuals show that protestors also in anger threw stones at the army gate resulting there in Police and army has been deployed to pacify the protestors given the resentment over the innocent killings.
Family members rued Whether the army will bring their beloved ones back into this materialistic world. What is their mistake? Not they are terrorists? Then why they are being killed for no fault of theirs? What we would do now as their families were left to fend for themselves? Family members wailed amidst shrill cries and demand the Perpetrators of the crime would be brought to book at the earliest.
One of the protestors turning tables against the Army rued that these deceased not had any weapon in their hands nothing of that sort then why did the Army fire upon them rather there is the need that exemplary punishment to be given to the erring and tainted army officials who fired and killed them adding, not thought that they resorted to innocent killings as the families of the deceased destroyed now,” he maintained.
DyIG Rajouri – Poonch Range Dr. Haseeb Mughal while talking to reporters informed that following this incident Police rushed to the spot and the injured one has been given treatment adding, as a follow-up to the injured one after completing all the requisite Formalities. After that Police lodged an FIR and we are doing the investigation in a transparent manner in this incident” he told reporters accompanied by SSP Rajouri Mohd Aslam and an Army official. “People protested here but the administration as well police, and parliamentary forces earned the accolades for pacifying the protestors and possession of dead bodies with us and whatever would be formalities of the dead bodies we would send the bodies to GMC Rajouri in this regard”, DyIG Rajouri Poonch Range Dr. Haseeb further lamented. DIG Dr. Haseeb assures a fair probe in the matter coupled with forensic, ballistic whatever it would be done later.
