The sinking of the land at Thathri has become a cause of concern for the inhabitants as it led to that the cracks developing in the houses of the masses. As per the government reports till yesterday about 19 residential houses have developed cracks including Mosque.
This Doda region has the presence of the mighty river Chenab and even a dam also built there. People are in dilemma over this sinking of the land and they termed it as a nightmarish experience to confront.
As some compared this sinking of the land with the Joshimath tragedy and people seen relocated by the district administration to a safer place along with their belongings. Visuals that emerged on social media show the distressing scenario prevailing given the cracks developed in the houses and the inhabitants left with no other option than to shift to safer places. Even the Geological survey team also visited Thathri in order to ascertain the reason behind the sinking of the land and today samples have been taken by the Geological survey team so that reasons be apprised.
Experts opined that the blockade of water for the purpose of a dam by the administration, purportedly is the reason behind this sinking as the water get seeps into the land resulting there in land developing cracked as the land fails to withstand the pressure of the water. Residents of the Doda region are feeling insecure and panicky due to this sinking as this land adding, as they termed the way land caved in it gives us sleepless nights to us as we don’t know what the fate of our houses as a natural disaster befallen us.
The Sooner the reasons behind this sinking of land be made public by the Geological survey team the better it would be! As the masses are grappling with mental agony and trauma as they curse their luck that what would happen to them as they are living under abrupt fear.
