Yet in another instance of high handedness by a doctor at sub district hospital (SDH) Sunderbani, with family in agony as their patient was crying with labour pain, forced them in midnight to rush Jammu for delivery, however, after reaching Jammu at 3am on August 2, the woman delivered healthy girl child through normal delivery.
“At around 9:30 pm on August 2, my wife developed labour pain, we rushed her at the nearby community health centre (CHC) Kalakote, but the doctor on duty checked blood-pressure (BP) with a malfunctioned apparatus and referred us to district hospital Rajouri”, said Ankush, adding that instead of going Rajouri they left for Sunderbani, so that in case of emergency they could proceed for Jammu.
“We reached SDH Sunderbani, at around 12:45 pm, the nursing staff on duty kept my wife in labour room to perform delivery, meanwhile, a doctor, came in and checked the referral slip and started abusing us”, Ankush said, adding that instead of arguing with the doctor, they request him for the treatment, as his wife was yearning with unbearable labour pain. “Doctor got infuriated and shouted at us Bakwas Matt Karo, Daffa Ho Jao Jahan Se, shut your mouth and get lost from here”, the doctor told us, he said, adding that believing on almighty they left for Jammu and reached SMGS Hospital at around 3pm.
“The Doctors and other staff at SMGS Hospital treated my wife very professionally, at around 6am I became father of a daughter that too without any trouble, I salute, Principal GMCH Jammu, Medical Superintendent and their team for excellent job they are doing with love and care”, he added.
BMO Sunderbani, Dr Nisar Ahmed when contacted said that he would enquire the matter. “It is very unfortunate if it is happened, I personally monitor everything in hospital and I try my best to serve the patient with love and care. He is a senior doctor, and I will conduct an inquiry into the matter”, he added.
The post of BMO Kalakote is lying vacant since 17/04/2023, after transfers, as new BMO has not joined till date. “Dr Safeena Begum, MO, PHC, Buffiliaz shall look after duties of BMO Kalakote”, reads government order no 319, JK(HME) of 2023 dated, 17/04/ 2023, under this order 25 BMOs are transferred and posted.
Dr Suresh Kumar Kapahi, Gynaecologist, a resident of Bajabani, Sunderbani officially posted at CHC Kalakote, but he managed manipulation in his transfer order and sitting at Sunderbani for last three years, since the day when he was posted in Kalakote. Recently, after a protest at Kalakote town by local, during a VIP visit, the director Health Services Jammu issued another order directing the doctor to attend OPD for two days at Kalakote i.e. Thursday and Friday, but here a million dollar question arise, when an officer is posted at a particular place why he is allowed to work somewhere else. He should be transfer from Kalakote so that a gynaecologist on regular basis be appointed in the interest of patient care.
