A major enforcement drive was launched by the different teams of Motor Vehicles Department at different places in Jammu, Samba and Ramban districts to enforce affixation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on the Government and Private vehicles.
Three different teams of MVD headed by ARTOs conducted physical checking of vehicles at different locations in district Jammu and violators were booked and those who have not affixed HSRP were also issued fee payment slips for affixing HSRP. A team of MVD headed by Esha Chib, ARTO BOI-P, Jammu conducted physical checking of the vehicles at R.S. Pura and Bishnah area and during the checking intercepted 49 vehicles. “46 vehicles were issued HSRP fee receipts and 03 vehicles were seized for different violations” the ARTO said. Another team headed by Pawan Sharma, ARTO BOI-G, Jammu conducted physical checking of the vehicles at Bye Pass Nagrota, Nagrota Bazar, Jagti etc. along the National Highway and intercepted 46 vehicles. The team issued fee receipts of HSRP to 46 vehicles on the spot and advised to visit the Old RTO office Ware House Jammu for affixation of HSRP immediately. Similarly, a team headed by Mohammad Saleem, ARTO (HQ), Jammu conducted checking of vehicles at Marh and Ghou Manhasan Area and challaned 15 vehicles for not using/affixation of HSRP. Likewise, enforcement drives were conducted at various places in district Samba on Vijaypur-RamGarh road and Vijaypur-Samba road by Rehana Tabassum, ARTO Samba. As many as 91 vehicles sans HSRP were intercepted and challaned on the spot. In Ramban District, teams of Motor Vehicles Department headed by Shafqat Majeed ARTO, conducted physical checking of the vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway viz. Seri, Ramban Town, Maitra, Nashri and on Batote Doda road. During the drive 38 vehicles were challaned. The enforcement drive was supervised and co-ordinated by RTO Jammu and all the Motor Vehicle Owners (Government/Private) who have not affixed HSRP on their vehicles have been advised to immediately get the HSRP installed on their vehicles failing which the department will be constraint to seize/detain such vehicles who are found plying without HSRP.
