In a series of meetings with various deputations, Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, addressed pressing concerns ranging from the drug menace to the eviction of tribals and issues faced due to road widening projects.
Addressing one of the deputations, Khatana emphasized the authorities’ firm stance against the drug mafia, stating that narcotic addiction is spoiling the youth of the country. “Addiction to intoxicant substances is against the ethics of all religions, and moral education is needed to safeguard the youth from addiction,” he maintained, adding that while no innocent will be harmed in the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse, the guilty will face severe punishment.
In response to another deputation, Khatana expressed concern over the eviction of tribals who have been residing on a piece of land for decades. He urged the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to consider rehabilitation plans before evicting long-term residents. Highlighting the significance of their livelihood, Khatana emphasized that many of these residents have been living in the area for several decades, and their livestock is crucial to the local economy and employment. Furthermore, a deputation from the Kajwani-Narwal high area, comprising local prominent figures, met with MP Khatana to discuss the hardships faced due to road widening projects. Khatana assured them that he would raise the issue with senior officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to seek compensation and relief for those affected. Through these meetings, MP Khatana demonstrated his commitment to addressing the diverse concerns of the people, advocating for strict measures against the drug menace while also championing the cause of rehabilitation for tribals and seeking relief for those impacted by development projects.
