Taking serious note of ‘communal’ took place on May 14 in Government Medical College’s hostel over “The Kerala File”, Principal Dr Shashi Sudhan today directed chief provost and all wardens of hostels for maintenance of discipline, to such kind of incidents in future that bring bad for the institution.
“No unauthorised person be allowed to enter the Hostels. If anyone violates this, the police authorities be informed immediately to take action under rules. Strict check on entry/exit points of the Hostels. No unauthorised vehicles to be allowed to be parked in the Hostel premises. Proper functioning of all CCTV’s in the Hostels. If additional CCTVs are required the demand be projected immediately to ensure 100% CCTV coverage of all the areas in the Hostels”, Principal and Dean GMC Dr Shashi mentioned in the letter sent to chief provost and the wardens.
“If any student is found involved in Anti-Social/ Anti-National/Anti-Institutional activities or indiscipline, strict action be taken against him or her including rustication from the hostels, recommendation for inquiry by the Disciplinary Committee and action by the police under relevant sections of law. All the Students be informed/counselled to avoid posting any post which disturbs harmony, is Anti-Social/Anti-National or creates indiscipline in the Hostels/Institution. Further, no Student should be a member of any unauthorised social media group”, the letter read.
“Further, surprise rounds of the Hostels should be made and if any Anti-Social, Anti-National activity or indiscipline is noticed, immediate action be taken against the person with intimation to the undersigned. In addition, any other action deemed appropriate should also be recommended to the office of the undersigned. Promotion of Academic, Sports & Cultural Activities by the students staying in the Hostels”, the letter added.
