In a move that puts an end to weeks of speculation, Advocate Ankur Sharma, the National President of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal (ESBD), formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) this afternoon.
The significant development occurred at the BJP office in Jammu, where Sharma was welcomed by BJP National President J.P. Nadda and J&K BJP Working President Sat Sharma.
The political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir is poised for a potential shift, as sources suggest that the entire leadership of ESBD may soon follow Sharma’s lead and align with the BJP. This move comes after weeks of intense speculation, with The Hidden News first breaking the story earlier today about a meeting between Sharma and Nadda.
Sharma’s decision comes after a period of internal deliberation within the ESBD. On August 9, 2024, Sharma had taken to his official X handle to reveal that he had received a proposal from a national party.
In a post, Sharma detailed the internal discussions that took place at ESBD’s Delhi office, where the leadership deliberated on three options, a complete merger, an alliance, or rejecting the proposal outright. “We authorize our national president to engage in discussions with the leadership of the national party. There is no objection to the talks,” Sharma wrote in his post. However, he clarified that no final decision would be taken until the discussions were concluded.
