In a move set to redefine India’s media landscape, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur, today inaugurated four transformative portals aimed at revolutionizing media operations across the nation. These initiatives promise to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accessibility while fostering a conducive environment for media entities.
During the launch event, Minister Thakur highlighted the significance of these initiatives in facilitating ease of doing business and promoting transparency in government communication. He emphasized their role in providing a streamlined platform for newspaper publishers, TV channels, and local cable operators, thereby catalyzing growth and innovation in the media sector.
Today, India is viewed as an attractive destination for investment, with global companies eager to establish businesses there. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on transformative governance and economic reforms has greatly improved the ease of doing business in India.
The newly unveiled portals include:
Press Sewa Portal: This portal, developed under the Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023, simplifies the process for newspaper registration and related procedures. It offers online application filing, real-time application tracking, and a dedicated module for District Magistrates to manage applications efficiently.
Transparent Empanelment Media Planning and eBilling System: Revolutionizing media planning, this system offers an online platform for the empanelment of various media entities and automates media planning and billing processes, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
NaViGate Bharat Portal: Serving as the National Video Gateway of Bharat, this bilingual platform hosts government-related videos, providing citizens with easy access to information on various schemes and initiatives.
National Register for LCOs: This initiative aims to centralize the registration of Local Cable Operators (LCOs) under a unified system, streamlining regulatory processes and fostering a more organized cable sector.
These initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to modernizing the media landscape and fostering innovation. Minister Thakur expressed confidence that these platforms will not only enhance transparency and efficiency but also contribute to the country’s economic growth and development.
