The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (JKHCBA) today unequivocally condemned the move of UT administration of imposing the Property Tax across the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the press conference here at HC Complex in Jammu, Senior Advocate MK Bhardwaj and President Bar Association categorically stated that we have strongly opposed the Imposition of this property Tax. After taking all the bar members into confidence in pursuance to this notification of S. O of property tax we bar members and even civil society also condemned it with tooth and nail” Bar President vociferously divulged accompanied by bar members.
“If the UT administration does not roll back this S. O in regards to the Property tax within few days” Bar President MK Bhardwaj vehemently said adding, then the protest will intensify in the days to come. As such government should need to revisit and revoke such S. O which has brewed resentment amongst the Civil society and quick to add that better recourse for the government is to withdraw this S. O of its own “he lamented.
Senior Advocate MK Bhardwaj while referring to the erstwhile state of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh and said that if the people of the erstwhile state interacted they will come to know that they are affected by different issues. If we talk about rural areas as you are very well aware that the people of rural areas’ survival depends upon the agricultural land but it is really befuddling and baffling aspect people who are in possession of agricultural land for the past seventy years on the government of their land has installed board of State land, he categorically lamented.
“Shelter of the poor people being razed which is really heartbreaking and heartwrenching ” Sr. Adv. MK Bhardwaj rued adding, even one after another notice being served upon the masses and the bar members were also well acquainted with the same. Bar Association strongly condemned the Anti public issues. He said that Property tax is ‘tax terrorism’ for the reason you are putting an additional burden on the Poor and middle-class strata of the society” he maintained.
