In a significant step towards enhancing transparency in governance, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today launched the Jammu & Kashmir Right to Information (RTI) Online Portal at the Civil Secretariat. The portal, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) J&K, simplifies the RTI process, enabling citizens to submit applications, track their status, and receive responses online.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Cabinet Ministers Sakeena Itoo, Javed Ahmad Rana, and Javed Ahmad Dar, along with senior officials. The Chief Minister praised the initiative, calling it a transformative tool for empowering citizens and ensuring accountability.
The portal integrates 61 government departments and over 4,000 officials, issuing unique registration numbers via SMS and email for easy tracking. Abdullah urged authorities to promote the platform widely to ensure maximum public benefit. This digital shift eliminates the need for physical visits, marking a new era of accessible and efficient governance in Jammu & Kashmir.
