In the high-profile Greater Kailash murder case related to a land dispute, the City Judge Jammu Pooja Raina has further extended the police remand of the six accused by five more days till May 13, 2024.
Today, the SHO of Gangyal Police Station produced the accused – former SSP Sheikh Mehmood, Parshtom Singh alias Nikka, Suraj Singh, Sandeep Charak, Vikas Singh, Ravinder Kumar Gupta alias Gola Shah, and Rajat Jandyal son of Ravinder Gupta – before the court seeking an extension of their remand.
After perusing the case diary, Judge Raina observed that the investigation is still at an initial stage and granted the police five more days of remand to carry out the probe effectively. The murder case pertains to the killing of a youth allegedly over a land dispute in the Greater Kailash area last month. Ravinder Kumar Gupta, known as a notorious land grabber, is among the key accused.
The Jammu Police have conducted multiple raids at Gupta’s residence in connection with the case. Investigators are exploring all angles, including the land-grabbing nexus operating in the city.
As the high-profile case continues to make headlines, the extended remand period will allow the police to thoroughly interrogate the accused and collect substantial evidence to ensure the delivery of justice. The Greater Kailash murder has sparked public outrage, prompting authorities to act tough against land mafia elements trying to disturb the law and order situation in Jammu.
