In a move to maintain discipline and ensure proper functioning at the Police Station Janipur, the Deputy Inspector General (DyIG) of Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Dr. Sunil Gupta, has taken stern action against errant police officials.
According to sources, DyIG Dr. Sunil Gupta paid a surprise visit to Police Station Janipur and found several lapses in the maintenance of records and facilities. During his inspection, the DIG thoroughly examined the Malkhana (storage room for case properties), Hawalat (lockup), barracks for personnel, and other facilities within the police station premises.
While emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and vigilance, especially in light of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the top cop stressed upon the SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer), SHO (Station House Officer), and other staff to maintain the cleanliness of the police station and surrounding areas. He also directed the concerned officers to address public grievances in a timely manner, with special attention given to female complainants and cases related to the NDPS Act, road accidents, and land disputes.
During the inspection, the DyIG checked various record registers, including NCR (Non-Cognizable Reports), Mahila Desk (Women’s Desk), Cyber, CCTV, NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances), land disputes, and festival-related registers. However, he found most of them improperly maintained. In view of the lapses, the DIG has suspended the Munshi (record keeper) of Police Station Janipur and ordered a departmental inquiry against the SHO for poor supervision. Additionally, a show-cause notice is being issued against the SDPO Jammu West for the dereliction of duty. The actions taken by DyIG Dr. Sunil Gupta reflect the commitment of the Jammu Police to maintaining high standards of professionalism and accountability within its ranks. These measures are aimed at ensuring efficient service delivery and fostering public trust in the law enforcement agency.
The suspension of the Munshi and the inquiry against the SHO serve as a stern warning to all police personnel, emphasizing the importance of diligence and adherence to established protocols in carrying out their duties.
