In this month’s installment of the Awaam ki Awaaz program, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the ongoing efforts to foster social justice and promote self-reliance in Jammu Kashmir. Highlighting the stories of beneficiaries and unsung heroes, he underscored their role in the transformation of the region towards a new era of progress and inclusivity.
Lt Governor Sinha credited the vision of social justice established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring equal opportunities and resources for the well-being and prosperity of marginalized sections of society in Jammu Kashmir. He emphasized that the principles of inclusivity and collective effort have been instrumental in addressing developmental imbalances and steering the region towards accelerated and inclusive growth.
One of the significant milestones highlighted by Lt Governor Sinha was the historic decision to include Paharis, Padari Tribes, Koli, and Gadda Brahmin in the Scheduled Tribes list, demonstrating the government’s commitment to empower all communities while safeguarding the interests of existing tribal groups such as Gujjar and Bakarwals.
In a special dedication to the Unsung Heroes and Nari Shakti (Women Power) of Jammu Kashmir, Lt Governor Sinha recognized individuals like Ms. Shabnam Bashir from Bandipora, Ms. Waheeda Akhtar from Budgam, and Reva Raina from Jammu for their outstanding contributions to society, tribal culture revival, and values-based education through sports, respectively.
Additionally, the Lt Governor applauded the efforts of Anita Sharma and Shahnaz Bano from Udhampur, Sunita Devi from Kathua, Medhavi Sharma, Saras Bharti, Nazish Rashid from Baramulla, Mehbooba Akhtar from Ganderbal, and Lakshmi from Samba for their remarkable achievements in fields such as entrepreneurship, promotion of local art and culture, and agricultural innovation.
Lt Governor Sinha also acknowledged the valuable suggestions received from various individuals regarding women’s health, well-being, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership roles. He assured that necessary actions would be taken by the concerned departments to address these issues effectively. Moreover, paying homage to nationalist thinker-writer Thakur Raghunath Singh and congratulating Padma Shri recipients Dogri folk singer Romalo Ram and master craftsman Ghulam Nabi Dar, Lt Governor Sinha reaffirmed the commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Jammu Kashmir.
