In response to an inquiry by MLA, Central Shalteng constituency, Tariq Hameed Karra regarding the construction of a 3.0 MGD Water Treatment Plant (RSFP) at Tatoo Ground, Batamaloo under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, the government has denied the existence of any detailed project report (DPR) for such a facility.
Addressing the query, the government categorically stated, “No Sir, while no DPR has been proposed under AMRUT 2.0, a pre-feasibility report of a 2.50 MGD water treatment plant for the proposed theme park at Tatoo Ground has been prepared. Part of the Batamaloo area is also within its scope.”
This clarification contradicts earlier reports suggesting that a DPR amounting to Rs. 3331.00 lacs had been prepared for a larger 3.0 MGD plant under the centrally sponsored AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme. However, the government’s statement indicates that only an initial pre-feasibility assessment has been conducted, focusing on a slightly smaller 2.50 MGD plant. The proposed plant is expected to cater to the water supply needs of the area, including the future theme park at Tatoo Ground, while also covering parts of the Batamaloo locality. Despite the pre-feasibility report’s preparation, the government has not yet moved forward with a formal DPR under the AMRUT 2.0 framework. The absence of a sanctioned DPR raises questions about the timeline for addressing the water supply concerns in Batamaloo and surrounding areas. With no official approval in place, the commencement date for the plant’s construction remains uncertain. Local residents and stakeholders await further clarity on whether the project will receive formal approval and how soon the essential infrastructure will materialize to meet the growing water demands in the region.
