Sr Departmental Research Committee Member refused to sign tempered sheet, students seek VC’s intervention

Professor, Haq Nawaz Sheikh, HOD Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu has allegedly tempered the results of PhD entrance test held on 18/09/2023.
According to sources 31 candidates applied for Ph.D entrance test and one candidate was selected purely on the basis of merit, but another candidate parachuted in the list of selected candidates due to the blessings of HoD of the Department, Prof Sheikh, allegedly tempered the final result to favour a female candidate.
“Smelling a rat, a senior member of the Departmental Research Committee has refused to sign the final result. We appeal to the Vice Chancellor, to conduct an independent inquiry into this back door entry, otherwise a mass agitation against the wrongdoing of Prof Sheikh will be launched very soon”, said a group of students, sharing both copies with The Hidden News.
“He had been in controversies, during his posting in Kishtwar campus, but here at Jammu University, he cannot enjoy free hand. The University administration has to fix responsibility for the ‘back admission scandal’. In the first sheet (handwritten), you see an alteration of marks to achieve the minimum marks required to qualify for Ph.D admission”, the students further said, adding that on the second sheet, a senior member of the Departmental Research Committee did not sing, it clearly shows that due benefits have been given to parachuted girl student by the Head of the Department.
