Despite government making efforts to ensure that green cover expanded across length and breadth of UT due to the greediness of the forests mafias wanton loot of forests continue with impunity resultant there in loss of green cover.
Social media has reported that Illegal felling of trees occured in Reasi district Tulli area of Mahore banana compound No. 76 where in reportedly eighty trees have been axed illegally.
DFO Mahore divulged that whosever involved in this illegal felling of trees against them FIR would be lodged. He said when you visited forests you get old logs of wood also so it doesn’t mean that illegal felling of trees takes place. Guard and foresters placed under suspension. He said that he himself visited on the spot and about eight to ten trees have been damaged, he vehemently asserted.
Forest department ordered Constitution of inquiry committee regarding damage in banna block Mahore, Forest division Thereof
“Sanction is here by accorded to the Constitution of Multi departmental inquiry committee of the following officers to immediately inquire into the alleged damage in co. No. 76 / CG of tulli beat and 81/ GG of banna block Mahore range of Mahore Forest division as reported in social media.
B.Mohandas Conservative of East circle, Satyendra Maurya, ACF Poonch forest division, Dharmendra I/C ACF, Dy. Director FPF Jammu flying squad and Surinder Nath R. O , Gr. I, O/o APCCF Jammu, will conduct the enquiry.
The inquiry committee has been ordered to complete the inquiry and submit the report within a period of one week, reads the order dated 9.10.22 issued by the PCCF J&K
