Geology and Mining Department today seized two pokland chain machines besides one loaded dumper involved in illegal mining at Korepunu in Ujh River today.
The operation was carried out in Ujh river near Korepunu areas as a result of which whole machinery along with a dumper were detained from the spot by a special police party sent by SSP Kathua R.C. Kotwal and later on seized by DMO Kathua on seizure form.
District Mining Officer Kathua informed that both the machines and dumper after seizure were kept in the custody of police till realization of penalty from them as per the rules of Geology and Mining department.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey has already cautioned the field staff of the geology and mining department to remain vigilant and alert during the ongoing monsoon season. He also called for maintaining zero tolerance against violators and illegal miners who are found indulged in illegal mining activities.
It is worthwhile to mention here that both the Geology and Mining department and Kathua Police are continuously taking tours and inspections during day time and night hours in the areas having apprehension of illegal mining activities during the ongoing rainy season.
