In a significant step towards fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development in the Union Territory, Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Innovation Tower at the University of Jammu.
This state-of-the-art facility, slated for completion in two phases under the Capex budget of 2023-24, promises to emerge as a central hub for driving transformative initiatives in innovation, incubation, skill enhancement, and entrepreneurial ventures.

Speaking at the ceremony, LG Sinha underscored the pivotal role of the Innovation Tower in catalyzing growth and development across various sectors. The facility is set to house a diverse range of components, including the Atal Innovation Centre & Data Analytical Centre, Skill Development & Career Progression Centre, and Innovation Council. Notably, it will also feature a unique space for the Innovative Undergraduate Program “Design Your Degree,” aiming to empower students with customizable learning experiences tailored to their interests and career aspirations.

Emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, LG Sinha highlighted the Innovation Tower’s role in providing a conducive environment for ideation and collaboration. With provisions for expanding the structure to G+7 floors in Phase-II, the facility is poised to accommodate evolving technological needs and emerging trends. Furthermore, the LG stressed the importance of creating spaces for intellectual collision and knowledge sharing among students and mentors, fostering a vibrant ecosystem of learning and innovation.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of key stakeholders, including Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department, and Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, alongside senior officials, faculty members, and students.
