The government of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday constituted different committees to oversee the rationalization of the hierarchical structure of the Revenue Department and the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and the Higher Education Institutions.

The committee comprises seven members including a chairperson which will submit its report within a period of 15 days. The committee is directed to study the existing hierarchical and reporting structure of above-said departments. The committee is also required to study the changes in functions assigned to both the departments over the period of time. Furthermore, the committee is directed to study the cause of instant enlargement of both the departments over the past 10 years. After studying all these dimensions, the committee is directed to propose the recommendations for the hierarchical and reporting structure of these two departments. Meanwhile, the committee is comprising of five members including a chairperson. The proposed committee is directed to study the requirements of Higher Education Institutions in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The committee is required to rationalize the existing Higher Education Institutions in JKUT. The committee is also directed to recommend the criteria for expansion or opening of future Higher Education Institutions in the JKUT. The committee is given the time of 15 days to submit its report to the government.
