The Jammu and Kashmir government has terminated the services of four employees, including two police officials, a teacher, and a Public Health Engineering (PHE) official, for their alleged involvement in anti-national activities.
The dismissals, carried out under Article 311 of the Constitution of India, came after law enforcement and intelligence agencies flagged their involvement in terror-related activities.
Two of the dismissed employees, Abdul Rehman Dar and Gh. Rasool Bhat, were constables in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Dar, a Selection Grade Constable from Larmooh, Tral, was implicated in transporting illegal arms and ammunition to terrorists, as well as providing them with camouflage uniforms. Bhat, a Kote NCO in the district armory from Lalgam, Tral, was accused of supplying weapons and ammunition to terrorists over an extended period, operating within a network of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) linked to Pakistan-based terror outfits.
The third dismissal was of Shabeer Ahmad Wani, a teacher from Bungam, Damhal Hanjipora. Wani was identified as an active member of the proscribed separatist group Jamat-e-Islam (JeI), with direct ties to terrorist organizations. He was accused of strengthening JeI’s network and inciting violence during the 2016 unrest in D.H. Pora. Authorities described him as a hardcore OGW, particularly for the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), facilitating terrorist activities in the Kulgam area.
The fourth employee, Anayatullah Shah Pirzada, an Assistant Lineman in the Jal Shakti Department from Watergam, Rafiabad, was dismissed for his association with the banned Al-Badr Mujahideen. Pirzada allegedly worked covertly with notorious terrorists like Yousuf Baloch and Tameem, and was involved in cases related to the recovery of satellite phones and hand grenades, and communication with Pakistan-based Al-Badr terrorists.
A government spokesperson emphasized that these dismissals are part of a broader crackdown on government employees misusing their positions to aid anti-national activities. “The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards anti-national elements who have been taking advantage of being in government service,” the spokesperson stated. This action sends a strong message about the administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region by rooting out terror sympathizers from within its ranks. It also highlights the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in combating the deep-rooted terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir.
