JKPSC, SSB Recruited 16,362 Youths in Two Years

The Jammu and Kashmir government informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that in the last two years, 16,362 youths secured government jobs, while 90,776 youths found employment in the industrial sector. Additionally, 49,454 students graduated from colleges during this period.

According to official data, 25,428 graduates passed out in 2023, while 23,926 graduates completed their studies in 2024, bringing the total number of graduates over the two years to 49,454.

In response to a written query by MLA Vijaypur, Chander Prakash Ganga, the government provided a breakdown of government recruitments. It stated that the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) selected 1,141 candidates in 2023 and 1,034 in 2024 for various positions. Meanwhile, the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) selected 3,695 candidates in 2023 and 9,351 in 2024, bringing the total number of government jobs provided in the last two years to 16,362.

The government further elaborated on employment in the industrial sector, stating that 15,719 youths secured jobs in 2022-23, while 29,969 gained employment in 2023-24, taking the total to 90,776.

Regarding private-sector employment, the government shared the following statistics:

2021-22: 2,99,266 youths employed

2022-23: 2,83,664 youths employed

2023-24: 2,38,675 youths employed

2024-25 (up to January 2025): 13,665 youths employed These figures highlight the government’s efforts to generate employment opportunities across various sectors, including public service, industry, and private enterprises, as part of its broader economic development initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir.
