Allaying the fears of sinking in Doda, Jammu University (JU) Geologists who were on a visit to the affected areas of Thathri area of Doda district where in several houses developed cracks resulting there in inhabitants shifting to safer places today revealed that the area is not sinking from the assessment which we did on the affected sites.
“There is a dire need to fill the cracks wherever it has been developed ” JU Geologist categorically stated adding, whatever we have assessed today on account of our visit to this affected site where in cracks developed for that we need to first analyze the same and after that apprise you the same after proper investigation” they maintained.
To a query whether we compared this tragedy in the Thathri area with that of Joshimath, Geologists vociferously rebutted the same by saying not at all this is like a Joshimath” they added.
A Team of geologists visited the Doda district to ascertain the reason behind the cracks developed in the area and which have left the inhabitants in fear of psychosis.
Retired Geologist Prof GM Bhat could not be contacted for his comment in order to ascertain the reason behind this catastrophe.
