In a significant move to uphold the integrity of the electoral process, the District Police Kishtwar, under the leadership of SSP Abdul Qayoom, seized an unaccounted cash amount of Rs. 5,00,000 at the inter-district naka in Paarna Chingam.
Following the directives of the Election Commission of India, which prohibit individuals from carrying more than Rs. 50,000 in cash during the electoral period, the District Police Kishtwar conducted a routine naka checking at the inter-district naka Paarna Chingam Chatroo. During the checking, SHO Police Station Chatroo, Insp Vikram Singh, and PSI Pintu Raina made a significant discovery. They found an unaccountable amount of cash, totaling Rs. 5 lakh, in the possession of Mohd Ashraf Reshi, son of Abdul Aziz Reshi, a resident of Deller Chatroo.
Mohd Ashraf Reshi was traveling from Gadool Anantnag in a Tavera Taxi bearing registration number JK02AV 1937 when the cash was seized. This enforcement action by the District Police Kishtwar reaffirms the authorities’ commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring strict adherence to the Election Commission’s directives. In compliance with established protocols and procedures, the seized cash was promptly handed over to the Election Flying Squad Team (FST) in Chatroo. SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom, reiterated the firm commitment of the District Police to upholding the transparency and fairness of the electoral process. He emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the Election Commission’s guidelines and praised the efforts of the personnel involved in the operation. The seizure of unaccounted cash serves as a strong message against any attempt to undermine the democratic process, reinforcing the authorities’ determination to conduct free and fair elections.
