Following this episode, Yashpal Sharma joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where he continued his commitment to public service as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. His sudden demise on January 23, 2022, due to a cardiac arrest, was a significant loss to the people of Poonch, who mourned the passing of a leader who had been their voice and support for decades.
