In a bid to foster direct engagement with the public and ensure prompt grievance redressal, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha orchestrated a dynamic session titled “LG’s Mulaqaat” at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu and Kashmir.
The event, which served as a live public grievance hearing program, witnessed the active participation of citizens voicing their concerns and grievances. During the interactive session, Lieutenant Governor Sinha meticulously reviewed the complaints registered on the JKIGRAMS portal, seeking comprehensive action taken reports from concerned administrative secretaries, deputy commissioners, and senior officials. His emphasis on efficient grievance redressal underscored the administration’s commitment to responsive governance.
Addressing the gathering, Lt Governor Sinha articulated the imperative for all initiatives to be guided by the ethos of serving the common good. He urged officials to execute decisions impartially and expediently, emphasizing the need to strengthen both physical and social infrastructure to enhance public service delivery and ensure transparent welfare scheme implementation.
Lt Governor Sinha delved into specific grievances, issuing directives for the rationalization of teachers’ placements, especially in remote areas, to bolster the quality of education delivery. Additionally, he underscored the significance of robust infrastructure, directing officials to prioritize the effective functioning of essential utilities such as borewells, handpumps, and power transmission systems.
On the complaint of Mohd Iqbal from Uri, Baramulla about the construction of the Girls Hostel near Higher Secondary School Pehlipora, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla informed the chair that the remaining construction work will be completed soon and the hostel will be operationalized within one month.
A complainant namely Sohail Khan from Jammu drew the attention of the administration on the issue of the functioning of Ticket counter and other facilities at Bus Stand Jammu. The Lt Governor directed the Divisional Commissioner, JMC Commissioner, JDA, Traffic police, Transport department and other stakeholder departments to take concrete measures to ensure the facilities at the Bus Stand Jammu and Multi-tier Parking are working properly and are available to the people.
Addressing a grievance filed by Jashan Sambyal, a resident of Thalora Mandi, Samba regarding the dilapidated condition of the Sumb road, the Lt Governor directed the concerned Deputy Commissioner and officials to redress the issue at the earliest. Deputy Commissioner Samba informed the chair that the work on the said road is expected to be completed by the end of April this year.
The session saw swift action on individual complaints, with Lt Governor Sinha ensuring timely resolution. Noteworthy directives included expediting pending construction projects, addressing infrastructure concerns raised by citizens, and streamlining facilities at bus stands and road conditions.
Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar, Secretary of Public Grievances, played a pivotal role in facilitating the proceedings, ensuring transparency and efficiency throughout the grievance resolution process. The event witnessed the participation of key officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary for Forests Dheeraj Gupta, administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, senior police officials, and department heads, both in person and through virtual platforms.
