In a pioneering initiative to promote voter awareness and encourage maximum electoral participation, the SVEEP-Express train was flagged off from Baramulla Railway Station today.
The endeavor was made possible through a seamless collaboration between the district administration of Baramulla and the Northern Railways.
Minga Sherpa, the Returning Officer (RO) for the 1-Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency (PC), ceremoniously flagged off the SVEEP-Express train, carrying over 200 enthusiastic new voters, from the Baramulla Railway Station under the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. This special train journey symbolizes the ECI’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible citizen is informed, motivated, and equipped to participate in the democratic process. During the flag-off ceremony, Minga Sherpa emphasized the importance of voting and the critical role that new voters play in shaping the country’s future. She encouraged every eligible citizen to exercise their right to vote on May 20, when the 1-Baramulla PC goes to the polls.
Throughout the journey, the SVEEP-Express train will pass through several stations within the territorial limits of the 1-Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency. On-board teams will engage with first-time voters, educating them about the electoral process and highlighting the significance of their participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The initiative aims to create a widespread awareness campaign, reaching out to voters across the constituency and inspiring them to be a part of the democratic process by casting their votes.
