The Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency (PC) witnessed an encouraging start to polling as over 8.44% of voters exercised their franchise in the first two hours of voting, with reports indicating a peaceful conduct of the electoral process.
According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu & Kashmir, polling percentages varied across different assembly segments within the Udhampur PC. Notably, 11.39% polling was reported in 48-Inderwal, 7.27% in 49-Kishtwar, 9.43% in 50-Padder Nagseni, and 6.13% in 51-Bhaderwah. In other segments, the voter turnout stood at 9.97% in 52-Doda, 10.75% in 53-Doda West, 9.71% in 54-Ramban, and 5.91% in 55-Banihal. Similarly, polling percentages included 5.88% in 59-Udhampur West, 9.81% in 60-Udhampur East, 7.19% in 61-Chenani, and 7.58% in 62-Ramnagar.
The enthusiasm of voters was evident as long queues were observed at polling stations across the constituency despite inclement weather conditions. Among those exercising their franchise was the Returning Officer for the Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, who joined fellow citizens in casting his vote.
