Enforcement teams in Kathua district have seized a significant amount of cash and liquor valued at Rs 91.18 lakh since the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The seizures, made through intensive checks across Kathua, include Rs 51.54 lakh in cash and liquor worth Rs 39.63 lakh. These decisive actions underscore the administration’s commitment to preserving the integrity of the electoral process. Highlighting the significance of these proactive measures, the District Election Officer Kathua, who also serves as the Returning Officer for the 4-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, affirmed that the enforcement teams are unwavering in maintaining the principles of fair and transparent elections.
“We are continuously working to swiftly and resolutely identify and rectify any breaches of the model code of conduct,” the officer stated. Such efforts are pivotal in deterring illicit activities that may compromise the democratic process, ensuring voters can exercise their rights without external influence or coercion.
As the Lok Sabha elections progress, the administration has urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or violations of the poll code to relevant authorities.
