Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached in Moscow today, embarking on a significant diplomatic visit to co-chair the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Upon his arrival at Vnukovo-II Airport, Prime Minister Modi was received by Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and was accorded a ceremonial welcome.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the deep-rooted “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership” between India and Russia, which has flourished over the past decade. “Our collaboration has significantly advanced in areas such as energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges,” he remarked.
The summit with President Putin aims to review and enhance all facets of bilateral cooperation and to discuss various regional and global issues. “I look forward to sharing perspectives on maintaining a peaceful and stable region. Additionally, this visit will provide an opportunity to engage with the vibrant Indian community in Russia,” Prime Minister Modi stated.
Following his visit to Russia, Prime Minister Modi will proceed to Austria, marking the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to the country in over 40 years. In Austria, he will meet President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer, underlining Austria as a steadfast and reliable partner that shares India’s commitment to democracy and pluralism.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his eagerness to elevate the India-Austria partnership to new heights, particularly in emerging areas of innovation, technology, and sustainable development. “Together with the Austrian Chancellor, I anticipate engaging in discussions with business leaders from both nations to explore mutually beneficial trade and investment opportunities,” he added.
In addition to his official engagements, Prime Minister Modi will interact with the Indian community in Austria, acknowledging their professionalism and positive contributions to Austrian society. This diplomatic tour underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its international relationships and exploring new avenues for cooperation and development with both Russia and Austria.
