Amid the intense heatwave gripping Jammu city and its outskirts, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Er. Gulam Ali Khatana has taken swift action to address the potable water crisis faced by the masses.
Expressing grave concern over the suffering of the public due to the non-availability of water in several parts of the city, the MP called for an urgent meeting with senior officers of the Public Health Engineering (Jal Shakti) Department at his official residence on Residency Road, Jammu.
During the meeting, Mr. Khatana directly dialed residents from areas like Sunjwan, Bathindi, and other localities to obtain first-hand information regarding the water scarcity they were facing. After hearing the grievances of the residents, the MP issued strict directives to the PHE officers, emphasizing that there should be no water shortage in any area of the city.
Expressing displeasure over the public’s suffering due to the non-availability of water despite the Union government’s rigorous initiatives to provide tap water to each household in the country, Mr. Khatana instructed the PHE officers to take immediate measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply of potable water in all areas of Jammu city and its outskirts. He stressed the need for prompt action to alleviate the suffering of the people during this intense heatwave.
The PHE officers present in the meeting assured the MP that efforts were being made to overcome the shortage, and that new infrastructure was being created to avoid any inconvenience to the masses. However, Mr. Khatana made it clear that he would personally monitor the situation and take necessary steps to address the water crisis effectively.
Urging the concerned authorities to work round the clock, the MP emphasized that no stone should be left unturned in ensuring that every household in Jammu has access to clean drinking water. The MP’s decisive intervention has raised hopes among the residents of Jammu city and its outskirts that their water woes will be resolved soon.
