Nowshera Forest Division organised a series of awareness programmes to educate and encourage the youth to be part of “Mission LIFE” campaign.
A Pledge taking ceremony and cleanliness drive were held at Govt. High School Barnara in Sunderbani Forest Range Rajinder Sharma, DDC Sunderbani, was the chief guest and Vinod Behnal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunderbani, Chanchal Kumari, Head Mistress GHS Baranara , Davinder Kumar, Naib Sarpanch Nallah were the guests of honour. Dr. Rakesh Verma, Range officer Sunderbani welcomed the guests and gave detailed information about aims, objectives and activities undertaken under mission life to combat challenges of climate change.
Vinod Baniyal, ADC, said that individual action is the core of Climate responsibility. The average carbon footprint of a person in India is 0.56 tons per year compared to the global average of 4 tons. India’s traditional knowledge of social norms and daily household practices strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change through individual behaviours, in the form of a movement (Jan Andolan), life. Rajinder Sharma, DDC Sunderbani, while speaking said that his team of all PRIs is always ready to support the forest department in all its endeavors, be it forest fire control measures, retrieval of encroachments, plantation programmes or environmental protection. Chanchal Kumari, Headmistress GHS Baranara presented vote of thanks to all the guests as well as PRI’s Members and Students present during the Programme. Further a Pledge taking ceremony and cleanliness drive was also conducted in the premises of Amriteshwar Mandir Dharpur. The officials of the Forest Department also cleaned and maintained Water bodies (Bowlis) at Charnote, Bassian, Dharpur of Sunderbani Sub Division. These programmes were jointly organised by Ved Parkash BO Devak, Rajinderdev Sharma, B.O Dharamsal, and Rangeel Singh B.O Sunderbani and Didar Singh B.O Kangri. The whole event was conducted under the direct supervision of Vivek Verma Conservator of Forests West Circle Rajouri and Satyendra Maurya Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera.
