The incident dates back to October 27, 2023, when an inquest under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) was initiated following the death of Arti Devi, wife of Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Nandpur, Ramgarh tehsil, district Samba. Through meticulous investigation, including post-mortem examination conducted by a board of doctors, the case was eventually converted into a murder case under Sections 302/109 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Gurdeep Singh, the husband of the deceased, and another female accomplice from Ferozepur, Punjab, were apprehended as the main accused in the case. It was revealed that the motive behind the gruesome murder was Gurdeep Singh’s intention to eliminate his wife to facilitate his illicit relationship with another woman, paving the way for a second marriage.

The investigation of the case was conducted rigorously under the leadership of SHO P/S Ramgarh, Amit Sangra, with supervision from SDPO Vijaypur Rohit Kumar and Additional SSP Samba, Surinder Choudhary.
