In a significant development following the granting of a 9-day police remand to seven individuals, including a former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), in connection with the murder of a 39-year-old man during a violent scuffle over a land dispute in Greater Kailash, a police team conducted a raid on the house of notorious land grabber Ravinder Kumar Gupta, also known as Gola Shah.
This raid comes a day after the City Judge of Jammu, Pooja Raina, approved the remand for the seven accused individuals, with former SSP Sheikh Mehmood being among them. The other six suspects are identified as Parshtom Singh alias Nikka, Suraj Singh (son of Parshtom Singh), Sandeep Charak, Vikas Singh, Ravinder Kumar Gupta alias Gola Shah, and Rajat Jandyal (son of Ravinder Gupta).
Prompted swift action from SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar, took strict action against derelict police officials and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. He subsequently established a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by SDPO City South Kartik Shrotriya, to handle the case.
The Police on Sunday raid the house of Ravinder Gupta, alias Gola Shah, followed a court order received in relation to FIR No. 39/2024 of Police Station Gangyal. The objective of the raid was to search for material and documentary evidence linked to the land dispute and the crime itself. Despite the gravity of the situation, the house search was carried out peacefully, and the police team led by I/C SIT SDPO South City Jammu diligently pursued the search for evidence related to the case.
“We are searching for materials and documentary evidences regarding the land dispute and crime as ordered by the court. The search is currently ongoing and has not encountered any issues thus far,” said a spokesperson for the Jammu police. The continued efforts of the investigation team and the formation of the SIT reflect the authorities’ commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice for the victim and their family. The investigation remains ongoing, and more developments are expected as the police pursue leads and gather evidence. The community waits with bated breath for the truth to be revealed and justice to prevail in this disturbing case.
