In a significant operation under “Operation Sanjeevani,” District Police Samba seized approximately Rs 6 lakhs in drug money and a stash of Heroin (Chitta) from the temporary shelter (kullah) of a notorious drug peddler. However, both the peddlers managed to evade capture.
The operation unfolded when Police Station Bari Brahmana received information from a reliable secret source about drug trafficking activities involving Mohd Baru and his associate near Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana. Acting swiftly, a search party comprising SHO Bari Brahmana Sumeet Sharma, PSI Ibrar Ul Haq, Naib Tehsildar Bari Brahmana Rahul Singh Rana, under the leadership of SDPO Bari Brahmana Mukund Tibrewal, was deployed to the location.
Upon thorough searching of the kullah, the team discovered a substantial sum of Rs 5,88,660 in drug money and 9.54 grams of Heroin(Chitta) in possession of Mohd Baru. Despite their efforts, both Baru and his associate managed to escape. A search operation to apprehend the fugitives is currently underway.
The seized drug money and heroin have been confiscated by Police Station Bari Brahmana under FIR No. 52/2024 u/s 8/21/27-A/29 of the NDPS Act. Mohd Baru, known for his involvement in narcotics trade, has previous cases registered against him.
Bari Brahmana Police has initiated a detailed investigation into the case, including a financial probe to uncover any potential backward linkages. This robust action against drug trafficking is part of ongoing efforts by Samba Police to combat the menace of narcotics in the district.
The seizure of drug proceeds and heroin follows previous crackdowns on drug dealers in Samba, underscoring the unwavering commitment of the police to eliminate the drug menace. Authorities urge residents and citizens to collaborate with law enforcement to tackle the pressing issue of drug abuse, particularly among the youth.
