The J&K Government is likely to tighten the nose around the illegal power connections in Union Territory to end the power theft, which is taking a huge toll on the public exchequer.
On Saturday, the Principal Secretary to Government Power Development Department, J&K convened a series of meetings with the top officers of the Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited, point-outed, many irregularities which are causing deficit of revenue.

Kansal told the PDD officers that the preventive maintenance be strictly adopted to prevent any kind of damage to transformers, feeders and allied devices used for power supply.
He also sought regular reports from senior officers of PDD regarding the time of power outage, voltage drop and trips to eliminate power theft and reduce losses. He also sought separate regular reports regarding inspections conducted, revenue generated and fine recovered by the officials. Kansal also said that the illegal connection would not be tolerated at any cost.
The Principal Secretary also issued on spot directions to the officers to bring reform in loss making J&K Power Development Corporation Limited. But it is pertinent to mention here that influential people behind the hook and illegal connection, they got privilege either being influential or by paying bribe to the Linemen of Power Development Corporation Limited, who are extracting huge money. Now the question arises who will bell the cat.
