In a heartfelt message, Bollywood action star Vidyut Jamwal has extended his support to Yashuvardan Singh, the youngest candidate from Jammu and Kashmir, contesting from the Sunderbani-Kalakote assembly constituency in Rajouri district. Jamwal, who shares a close bond with Singh, in video message expressed his pride and confidence in the young politician, underscoring the importance of the moment.
“This message is for my Chota (young) brother, Yashuvardan Singh, who is the youngest candidate from Jammu and Kashmir. So first of all, I will remind you, when you were young, Toh Pushta Tha Kya Karaoge Bade Hoker (What will you do when you grow up)? You always said that my father had a dream to see all the youngsters excelling at the international level. Now you have the opportunity, and I’m watching very carefully. Good wishes, I’m very proud of you, brother. I hope you make the change that people deserve, and I, Vidyut Jamwal, and the entire Jamwals are with you,” Jamwal stated.
Yashuvardan Singh, who is the provincial spokesperson for the National Conference, is the son of the late Thakur Rashpal Singh, a revered figure in Rajouri district and a senior National Conference leader.
Rashpal Singh, who passed away due to COVID-19 on September 7, 2020, was a two-time legislator from the Kalakote assembly segment and had served as the Vice Chairman of the State Kissan Advisory Board during Omar Abdullah’s government from 2009-2015. Known for his honesty and dedication, Rashpal Singh was a mass leader who left a significant legacy in the region.
Yashuvardan Singh faces a tough battle in the upcoming elections, especially against his own uncle, Randhir Singh, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2020. The rivalry within the family has added an intriguing dynamic to the contest, particularly in the context of the 2020 District Development Council (DDC) elections.
In those elections, the National Conference saw victories in three seats, including Dhangri, Kalakote, and Moughla. Notably, Anita Thakur, the wife of Rashpal Singh, defeated Randhir Singh’s wife on the Kalakote DDC seat, marking a significant win for the National Conference. As Yashuvardan Singh steps into the political arena, he carries the aspirations of not only his family but also the legacy of his father.
With the support of influential figures like Vidyut Jamwal, his candidacy has garnered significant attention. The coming days will reveal whether this young leader can live up to the expectations and continue the legacy of his late father, bringing the change that his supporters hope for.
