Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, has been proactively addressing the concerns of the people, promptly taking up various issues raised during a public Darbar with the relevant authorities to seek timely redressal of grievances.
One of the deputations that met the MP comprised contractual banking attendants who have completed the mandatory 10 years of service required for regularization and are still serving beyond the stipulated criteria. These attendants urged Er. Khatana to take up their matter with the appropriate authorities, seeking relief and regularization of their employment. Responding with alacrity to their appeal, the MP reached out to Baldev Parkash, the Managing Director of J&K Bank, on the spot. Khatana urged the MD to consider the matter sympathetically and provide relief to the youth working as Banking Attendants, as some of their batchmates have already been regularized and are receiving the benefits entitled to regular bank employees.
Another deputation comprising unemployed youth from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Scheduled Caste (SC) categories met the MP, seeking the implementation of age relaxation in recruitment for the Police department, in line with the norms followed in other Union Territories of the country. The deputation informed the MP that according to an official notification issued on February 10, 2023, by the Home Department of Jammu and Kashmir to the recruiting agency JKSSB, out of 752 posts, 61 are reserved for SC candidates, and 75 posts are reserved for ST candidates. The application process for these respective services is set to commence soon.
However, the deputation highlighted a crucial point that the eligibility criteria for SC/ST candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector in the Jammu and Kashmir Police sets the age limit at 28 years, while the Government of India provides age relaxation of up to 5 years for STs and 3 years for SCs in other states and Union Territories of India for the same position. The deputation further emphasized that this policy of the Government of India would not cause any monetary burden on the exchequer but would instead open up massive opportunities for underprivileged SC/ST aspirants who have been deprived of the chance to serve the nation righteously. In response to this issue, the MP took up the matter with the Raj Bhawan authorities, seeking timely redressal of the concern faced by the youth.
In another case, an individual seeking rented accommodation provided by the JK Housing Board met the MP. The applicant had already submitted a recommendation from the MP to the Housing Board for this purpose but alleged that the staff of the MD did not allow them to meet the Managing Director. Er. Khatana promptly took up this matter with the MD of the JK Housing Board and sought an explanation regarding the situation, ensuring that the grievance of the individual was addressed appropriately.
Additionally, several deputations from different districts of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory met the MP at his official residence on Wazarat Road, Jammu, seeking redressal of their grievances. The MP further took up these matters with the appropriate authorities to ensure timely resolution, demonstrating his commitment to addressing the concerns of the people promptly and effectively.
Prior to this, Khatana had also met several deputations at his Bathindi residence and the BJP Headquarters in Jammu, actively engaging with the masses and lending an attentive ear to their grievances.
Through his proactive approach and swift action, MP Gulam Ali Khatana has set an exemplary standard for public representatives, ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and their grievances are addressed in a timely and efficient manner. His dedication to resolving the issues faced by the common people has been commendable, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed. The people of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory have expressed their gratitude towards the MP for his relentless pursuit of their welfare and his unwavering commitment to serving the masses.
