In a bid to enhance public engagement and address community grievances effectively, Shaleen Kabra, the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Jal Shakti Department, spearheaded a mega public outreach programme in Dudu Panchayat, Udhampur, as part of the UT administration’s proactive approach to connect with the grassroots.

The event, which served as a vital platform for locals to voice their concerns and demands, drew active participation from various segments of the populace, including DDC members, former PRI members, and residents from different regions.

Among the distinguished attendees were Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, Mission Director of JJM Dr. G N Itoo, Chief Engineers from Jal Shakti and I&FC Department, Manoj Gupta, SSP Joginder Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner Ghan Sham Singh, as well as prominent DDC members Latti-Marothi, Pinky Devi, and Subash Chander, alongside other senior officials.

Government departments such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, and Animal Husbandry, among others, set up awareness stalls to disseminate information about their respective schemes and initiatives. The ACS, along with the Deputy Commissioner, conducted thorough inspections of these stalls, engaging with officers and assessing the progress of various schemes on the ground.

During interactions with the public and former PRI members, a range of issues and demands were raised, including the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya School, infrastructure development for roads and religious sites, and the need for staff augmentation in educational and health institutions, alongside demands for youth employment opportunities.

Shaleen Kabra commended the region’s natural beauty and tourism potential while stressing the importance of sustainable development and transparent recruitment processes to address community demands effectively. He lauded the local community’s efforts in maintaining cleanliness and assured them of the government’s unwavering commitment to resolving their grievances promptly.

Reiterating the government’s dedication to ensuring access to basic facilities and services for all citizens, the ACS emphasized the significance of schemes like the Jal Jeevan Mission in providing clean water connections to every household. He underscored the pivotal role of local communities and water committees in ensuring the quality and maintenance of water resources at the village level. The primary objective of the public outreach programme was to foster direct communication between the administration and the public, facilitating the swift resolution of day-to-day issues and ensuring the effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes at the grassroots level.

Shaleen Kabra assured the public of the timely redressal of their grievances and reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns and demands of the residents concerning their respective areas.
