In an escalated effort to bring two absconding individuals to justice, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Sunday pasted proclamation notices on their houses in Poonch district, demanding their appearance before the court within a month.
The notices were pasted at the residences of Mohd Liyaqat alias Billa of Khari Karmara and Mohd Arshad alias Asif of Darabagyal Digwar Terwan, both residing near the Line of Control. A team from the SIA undertook the action, seeking their appearance before the Principal Sessions Judge, Poonch, within 30 days from the date of publication of the proclamation. The two individuals are wanted in a high-profile case registered last year under various stringent laws, including the Indian Penal Code, Indian Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The case is believed to be related to narco-terrorism activities in the region, which has emerged as a significant concern for law enforcement agencies in recent times.
“Proclamation is hereby made that the accused persons are required to appear before the court (of Principal Sessions Judge, Poonch) within the period of 30 days from the date of publication of proclamation, failing which proceedings under Section 83 of the CrPC (attachment of any property) shall be initiated against them,” warned the notice pasted by the SIA. Sources within the agency revealed that the move to paste proclamation notices is a part of intensified efforts to apprehend the absconding individuals, who are believed to be a part of a larger narco-terrorism network operating in the region.
The SIA’s actions have been met with widespread support from the local populace, who have expressed their determination to assist the authorities in combating the menace of narco-terrorism and restoring peace and stability in the region. As the hunt for the two accused intensifies, the agency has urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid in their swift apprehension and subsequent trial, reaffirming their commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of the people.
