In a major crackdown, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted extensive search operations at 11 locations across three districts of South Kashmir early this morning.
The searches were carried out in Anantnag, Kulgam, and Shopian districts in connection with the ongoing investigation into the killing of a non-local street vendor, Raja Sah, on April 17, 2024, in Jablipota, Bijbehara.
The SIA’s actions are part of its probe into case FIR No. 87/2024 registered at the Bijbehara Police Station. The agency aims to uncover the larger criminal conspiracy behind Sah’s murder, which sparked outrage across the region. During the searches, the SIA seized various articles, including mobile phones, electronic gadgets, and documents deemed relevant to the investigation. These seized items will undergo forensic examination and analysis as part of the ongoing probe.
An SIA spokesperson stated, “The searches were conducted in connection with the ongoing investigation into the killing of the non-local street vendor to ascertain the larger criminal conspiracy behind this heinous act.” The brutal killing of Raja Sah, a street vendor from outside the region, had generated widespread condemnation and calls for swift action from authorities. The SIA’s raids underscore the agency’s commitment to leaving no stone unturned in its pursuit of those responsible for the crime.
As the investigation progresses, the SIA is expected to extend its operations to gather further evidence and potentially make arrests in the coming days. The agency has vowed to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice, sending a strong message against such acts of violence.
