Prime Minister Modi held a telephone conversation with Rt. Hon. Keir Starmer, the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom following Labour Party’s victory in the general election. During their talk, both leaders emphasized the historic ties between India and the UK, expressing their dedication to enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
A key focus of their discussion was the ongoing negotiations for an India-UK Free Trade Agreement, with both prime ministers agreeing to work towards its early conclusion. The leaders also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Indian community to the UK’s social, economic, and political landscape, pledging to promote closer people-to-people ties. In a gesture of goodwill, Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to PM Starmer for an early visit to India, signaling the importance New Delhi places on its relationship with London.
Simultaneously, Prime Minister Modi congratulated H.E Masoud Pezeshkian on his election as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
