Though the district administration Poonch had ordered a magisterial inquiry into the alleged custodial death of Ulfat Hussain, a mason by profession, and the rape accused in Surankote subdivision, according to sources the complainant, a college student, today hospitalized after developing labourpains.
“It is not a custodial death, nor the deceased, who committed suicide was innocent, he repeatedly raped on college student for months together, when the girl become pregnant she told Ulfat Hussain about her pregnancy, and he brought some contraceptive pills to abort the foetus”, sources told The Hidden News adding that, but Ulfat Hussain father of two children, to satisfy his lust kept raping the girl till 8th month’s pregnancy.
“In the first week of October 2023, the girl informed her family about her pregnancy and on October 9, 2023, Surankote Police on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim’s family registered a case in FIR No. 314/2023 U/S 376 and 366 of the IPC”, sources said. “On the same day the Police arrested him, after having dinner, Ulfat Hussain went to the washroom and took a piece of a blanket with him, inside the washroom as he hanged to end his life, but another person, Nazir Din, detained by Police in the same lockup on the basis of a nonbailable warrant issued by Tehsildar Surankote, noticed the unusual noise in the washroom and informed the Police”, sources and added Police Jawan immediately rushed into the washroom and took him Surankote hospital and further he was shifted to GMC Rajouri for advanced treatment.
“He was kept on a ventilator at GMC Rajouri and died on October 16”, they added. Some news portals carried this news expressing sympathy with the family of Ulfat Hussain. Editor of Halla Boll, Zamurrud Mughal in news analysis raised questions over marks on the body of Ulfat Hussain and his forced burial at night in the presence of a magistrate.
However, an official assisting the magisterial enquiry ordered district magistrate (DM) Poonch, Yasin M Choudhary, who wishes not to be named said,” Photographs are taking round on social media and news portals are doctored, there is a huge difference in the photographs of face of deceased and the backside shown in the photographs.”
It is pertinent to mention DM Poonch on Monday had ordered a magisterial enquiry into the “custodial death” of a rape accused in police custody in Surankote area. DM Poonch, Yasin M Choudhary appointed Mohammad Jhangir Khan Sub Divisional Magistrate Mendhar as the enquiry officer to conduct a “comprehensive magisterial enquiry” into the incident and the circumstances leading to the custodial death of Ulfat Hussain son of Lal Hussain of Marhote Surankote.
DM had ordered the inquiry after a report from SDM Surankote stating that Ulfat Hussain “attempted suicide by hanging inside the Surankote Police Station lockup on 16th October 2023 (Monday).”
“The deceased was implicated in FIR No. 314/2023 U/S 376 and 366 of the IPC and was apprehended by the police based on a complaint filed by (a woman) on 9th October 2023,” the report was quoted in the DM’s order reads. The family members of the deceased have requested a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Ulfat Hussain,” Greater Kashmir reports. However, contradicting Greater Kashmir the victim pregnant College girl has been hospitalised today after she developed labourpains.
