In a significant development following the identification of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist involved in the killing of a government employee in Kunda Shahdra area of Rajouri district, the police have detained 67 suspects for questioning.
The authorities have also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the arrest of the terrorist. Addressing the media today, the Police Spokesperson provided an update on the ongoing investigation into the recent terror attack that claimed the life of Mohd Razaq. “In connection with the incident of firing and killing of Mohd Razaq in Kunda Shahdra area of Rajouri, a breakthrough has been achieved in the initial investigation with respect to the identification of one of the attackers, a foreign terrorist with the code name Abu Hamza. His photograph for identification has been shared,” stated the spokesperson.
The spokesperson revealed that 67 suspected persons have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident. “It is requested that all media houses refrain from publishing anything related to this case without confirmation from the investigation agency. The investigation is ongoing, and detentions and questioning are routine processes during any case investigation,” the spokesperson added. Issuing a stern warning, the spokesperson cautioned, “Anything related to the investigation and jumping the line of secrecy without confirmation can draw legal action.” Providing details about the attack, the spokesperson said, “Two LeT-affiliated terrorists barged into the house of a Territorial Army official in Village Kunda Tope, which is around 2 kilometers away from the famous shrine, Shahdra Sharief. The brother of the territorial army (TA) official, namely Mohd Razaq, was shot dead by the terrorists after the TA official managed to escape their clutches.” A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act, and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Police Station Thanamandi of District Rajouri.
“Intensified investigations have been launched to track down each person involved in this terror act. During investigations, credible evidence has been obtained, identifying one of the terrorists involved in committing this act as a foreign terrorist with the code name Abu Hamza,” the spokesperson stated.
The authorities have assured that the police, along with security forces deployed in the Rajouri-Poonch Range, are working in close synergy to neutralize this group and dismantle their support ecosystem. A reward of Rs 10 Lakhs has been announced for information leading to the terrorist’s arrest. The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
