Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta and Deputy Mayor Advocate Purnima Sharma of Jammu Municipal Corporation ( JMC) resigned from their respective posts.With Civil society asking the rationale behind the resignation of Mayor and Deputy Mayor at the crucial Juncture when the Municipal elections are round the corner.
It is out of place to mention here in that Mayor and deputy Mayor both have affiliated with ruling party. What necessitated them to submitted resignation from their lucrative positions this is a million dollar question which begs answer.
One of the social activist wishing anonymity said”There must be some reason behind the resignation otherwise who would submitted the resignation from these lucrative positions he divulged adding, they both submitted resignation as they apparently intends to get some new assignments in ruling party”he lamented.
“During their tenure Jammu city rotaries names have rechristened ” he recalled adding, as different chowks given new names and they considered to be their big achievement in terms of doing the same after several decades “he asserted.
Taking into account their tenure as Mayor and Deputy Mayor as they reiterated that Jammu city turns into smart city but if one visited the smart city and see the conditions of lanes and drains meaning thereby the civic sense their very claims vanished into thin air”he picking holes in the functioning of them as what development occured during their stint as Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Few rains inundated several areas of Jammu city what to talk of rural areas and the gullible people faced the precarious situation on account of that and the visuals which emerged on social media depicted sorry state of affairs about the pathetic conditions of the Jammu city. Even the roads developed potholes, puddles and which gives bumpy rides to the commuters and the gullible commuters faced insurmountable hardships on account of roads as they have to get their vehicles checked before the Mechanics given the dilapidated condition of roads”he regretted while gives overall details of the Jammu city during their era.
BJP UT President Ravinder Raina On being asked by the media persons about the resignation of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, he said both of them conveyed that they wished to work in the party activities adding, in the days to come with higher officials of the party meeting would be chaired and decision would be taken”he categorically stated.
Asked who would be elected the New Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Ravinder Raina said as you know there is a party norms first meeting be conveyed with all the Corporators and top leaders of the ruling party after that only we would decide and what ever decision came out of it then we would decided who would become Mayor and Deputy Mayor”he maintained.
When asked the reason behind the resignation of them, He said they vehemently stated they want to participate in the party activities”he added.
